Board On Mondays
I have started a new weekly movie night at my gallery. I call it "Board On Mondays". The films shown each week are all board-sport flicks. I started the weekly film showings because I have always enjoyed hanging with a bunch of friends and watching the latest film. Its always a good time filled with yelling, and cheering.
The first Monday of each month I show Surf Flicks, the last Monday I show snowboard flicks. All the other weekends vary between skate, & wakeboard films. I wanted to have the last Monday a skate night, but it turns out I know more snowboarders than skaters in Atlanta. Go figure? I may still give the skate flicks their own slot, but my co-worker Cullen has informed me that a skate flick night is in the works at a local Mexican restaurant/bar. Its a cool dive spot just down the road from Stratosphere. Hosting the night there makes good sense, and if they do, I don't want to compete. I’ll support that evening. I will still show skate flicks because I enjoy them & simply want to. Just not on a regular schedule.
The first night was this past Monday. The event did not start with a bang. It was cool that Sean O'Brien stopped by and we shared a beer. 10 minutes in and no show from anyone else, we called the event a bust. Sean went home and I played basketball with the neighbors. A few minutes later several people showed up for the movie night. We didn't watch a film, but we all had some beers & shared stories. the evening and event may have started off slower than expected, but it still was a good time.
