Join the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association (SIMA), Board Retailers Association (BRA), and surf's key players at the industry's leadership conference of the year. Surf Summit attendees address important issues facing the industry, share ideas, network and help shape the future of the industry. The format for Surf Summit 16 will include surf sessions in the morning, educational seminars and roundtables in the afternoon, and attendee dinners and events at night.

Academy Award-Nominated Director of Super Size Me & Documentary
Morgan Spurlock is an award-winning writer, director, and producer best known for his immersive explorations of social issues. He is also the host of the Current TV series, 50 Documentaries to See Before You Die, and produces the online series Failure Club. His latest film, POM Wonderful Presents:The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. A documentary about branding, advertising, and product placement, the film was funded by branding, advertising, and product placement. Showing up at interviews in a suit blatantly promoting the film's sponsors, Spurlock makes some serious points about the ubiquity of branding in our daily lives through his tongue-in-cheek approach.

As the Director of The Zoo, Google | YouTube’s Creative Development Group,
Mike is responsible for guiding and inspiring a team of creatives, program
managers, and media specialists connecting brands and audiences through
innovative creative solutions. Mike has spent the last 30 years getting people to join, buy, subscribe and act now. Mike was present in the formative years of the internet as Creative Director and Partner of the San Francisco advertising agency, Freestyle Interactive. Mike built and lead the Freestyle creative team that won awards and industry-wide acclaim for interactive campaigns for clients such as HP, Microsoft, Sega, and X-Box. In 2003 Mike and partners sold Freestyle to Carat and he was instrumental in building Carat’s interactive creative capabilities; developing marketing and creative strategies for adidas, Reebok, Seagate, Kodak, RadioShack, Dish Network, Wachovia, Revlon, and Virgin America. Before arriving at Google | YouTube, Mike managed the merger of three creative shops in the U.S. under one brand, Isobar, developing cross platform creative campaigns for EA, Motorola, Alberto Culver, Boost and Kohler.

Paul Speaker has a well-respected background in sports and entertainment. His executive management tenure includes serving as Director of Marketing and Ideas at the National Football League, President of Time Inc. Studios, and
President of RKO Studios where he has been responsible for the organizations’creative development, advertising and organization-wide integration of marketing strategies. Speaker also recently stepped down as Lead Independent Director for Quiksilver as part of the organization’s board of directors. Speaker’s focus during the current season is establishing an infrastructure to continue to build the ASP as a global sports league.

Industry Roundtable Discussions
Attendees will be divided into multiple groups to discuss different industry hot topics, such as emerging brands, brand and retail consolidation, production innovation and social media. Each roundtable discussion will be moderated by top industry pros and executives.
The conference will conclude the final night with dinner and the Closing Ceremonies on the beach. Former world champ, and one of the most aggressive free-surfers ever, Martin "Pottz" Potter will emcee this special night. Pottz will sit and talk story with athletes including Sunny Garcia and Taylor Knox, offering an intimate look into what makes these amazing athletes tick.
The deadline to register is April 1, 2013. Space is limited and on a first-come, first served basis, with priority given to SIMA and BRA members.
