LA JOLLA, CA – (February 25, 2013)-Pura Vida Bracelets, a charitable bracelet and accessories company that helps create jobs for local artisans in Costa Rica, was recently featured in the prestigious 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. The colorful bracelets were chosen by SI for their unique style and global fashion appeal for the magazine’s most popular issue.

The La Jolla-based company sells string bracelets, hair ties and accessories that are produced by Costa Rican artisans. Every bracelet features a unique color and beading combination and each purchase helps provide full time jobs for local artisans as well as funds for hundreds of charities.

“Pura Vida is honored to have a prominent place in the most anticipated magazine of the year and couldn’t be more thrilled to be included on such iconic models among some of our favorite fashion brands,” said Griffin Thall, CEO and founder of Pura Vida. “We’re also humbled by this amazing opportunity to help spread the message of Pura Vida with a global consumer, which can help to raise even more funds and create new jobs for craftsmen who desperately need them.”

The 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition takes an unprecedented journey to all seven continents, delivering fashion, beauty and earth's most exotic destinations. ABOUT PURA VIDA BRACELETS

Pura Vida Bracelets was founded in 2010 by two friends, Griffin Thall and Paul Goodman, when a college graduation trip to Costa Rica turned into a charitable business venture. Inspired by local craftsmen who created bracelets to support their families, Griffin and Paul started a business to give back to the community they fell in love with. Every bracelet features a unique color and beading combination and each purchase helps provide full time jobs for local artisans in Costa Rica.

The phrase “Pura Vida” (pu•ra vi•da) means pure life in Spanish. Enjoying life slowly, celebrating good fortune and not taking anything for granted, are all traits that embody the Pura Vida lifestyle.

In addition to helping create jobs in Costa Rica, Pura Vida Bracelets donates 1 percent of their profits to the Surfrider Foundation through 1% for the Planet in an effort to keep beaches around the world clean and safe for humans and wildlife.

Pura Vida Bracelets can be purchased at local boutiques, surf shops and fine retailers such as PacSun, Zumiez, Nordstrom and Rip Curl. To learn more about Pura Vida Bracelets, visit:http://puravidabracelets.com.
