Register Now for the Xcel Race Against Skin Cancer!

O'AHU, HAWAI'I - Xcel and the University of Hawai’i Cancer Center are excited to announce the Xcel Race Against Skin Cancer, a standup paddle race along the iconic Waikiki shoreline to raise awareness for skin cancer.

The first-time event, to be held Saturday, February 9, 2013, is the latest initiative in the ongoing partnership between Xcel and the UHCC to fight skin cancer in Hawai’i and beyond.

Designed to encourage paddlers of all levels to participate for the cause, the Xcel Race Against Skin Cancer course follows the popular Waikiki Roughwater Swim, with racers beginning at Kaimana Beach and paddling just outside of Waikiki’s world-famous surf spots to the finish at Duke Kahanamoku Beach.

Presented by the UHCC, the Xcel Race Against Skin Cancer is generously supported by event sponsors including the Friends of the University of Hawai’i Cancer Center, Standup Paddle Magazine, the Waikiki Parc Hotel, Surftech, Kona Red, Vertra, Island Sole, C4 Waterman, Ty Gurney Surf School, and 83 East Productions. Hawaiian Water Patrol will provide world-class water safety. Timing and online registration will be provided by Pacific Sports Events and Timing.

Finish line festivities include free skin cancer screenings, raffle prize drawings, and the awards presentation for the top three finishers in each division (men’s and women’s; unlimited, 14’, and 12’6” and under).

Pre-registered racers are guaranteed an event t-shirt. All racers will also receive entry into the raffle drawing for big-ticket prizes donated by event sponsors.

• 9:45am: Safety briefing
• 10:00am: Race start
